summer. morefuninthephilippines

Fixing our Boracay trip this summer has gotten me so psyched that I've been checking out bikinis and cover ups! I've never been the beach loving type of person, i detest the sun and hot weather but Boracay with four single girls sounds quite exciting, to be honest. Some of my picks for this summer are:

I am so loving the high-waist look right now, from high-waist trousers to shorts, so naturally i would lean towards high-waist bikinis (yes, I'm THAT predictable) plus, it's quite smart actually since when in Boracay i tend to eat and drink a lot, this can hide your "bundat" tummy. lol.

The vintage fifties - sixties pin-up girl look is also one of my favorite trends this coming summer 2012. It's cutesy and wholesome but with the right amount of sex appeal. Gingham checks, hawaian prints, nautical themes toppled with high waist bottoms and sweetheart necklines. Ooooh. Can't wait!

Another trend i noticed, for those who hate the cutesy bikinis is the statement strapping, which looks very sexy and matronix. Mix that style with the high waist bottoms and you will have a sexy but still subtle look. I'm not really a fan of the sexy, vulgar (parang FHM girlfriend of the month) look because i neither got the guts or, more importantly the body for it. lol.

This Lisa Blue set is sexy yet not overtly so. Now the next problem is how to get a bikini body in time for summer. NOT AN EASY FEAT. :(

Me and my good friend Sheena, who shares the same birthday as mine, decided to celebrate our birthdays together in Bond. I've never been the type to hold a party to celebrate my birthday, its just usually a quiet night with a boyfriend for the past 11 years, but this year, a first in a long time, I'm celebrating my birthday single so we decided to PARTAYYY.

(birthday girls: Melissa Castelar and Sheena Chua)

I was running quite late that day (what's new??!!) and almost missed my own salubong but thankfully arrived quarter to 12MN (thanks melon haha). I'm very lucky to have such an amazing set of friends, they organized a salubong for us on the eve of the 14th and surprised us with cakes, flowers and balloons. So sweet. *thanks hanna, haidee, suzzie, mark and april. love you guys!*

MOST DEFINITELY ONE OF THE BEST BIRTHDAYS EVERRR.

It's quite simple, actually.

LIFE IS SHORT.
LOVE IT.
TIME IS MOMENTARY.
CHERISH IT.

the bunny hop

2011 saw a lot of break ups, mine included. lol. So during dinner in Bangkok with our Thai friends, who also broke up but are still business partners and friends that's why they are still together taking us out we tried to count the break ups during the year of the rabbit, or as my good friend said... The year of the rabbit wherein people decided to hop hop away from their relationships and hop hop into new ones. hahaha:)

1. My favorite power couple, Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher

I was truly saddened by this... I loved them so much! :'(

2. Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries

3. Alex Rodriguez and Cameron Diaz

4. J Lo and Marc Anthony

5. George Clooney and Elisabetta Canalis

6. Arnold Schwarzenegger & Maria Shriver

7. Ashley Simpson and Peter Wentz

And many more like Taylor Swift, Blake Lively... even Hugh Hefner SHOCKER! He changes gf's every year.

So does this mean the bunny really wants to hop hop...

A penny for my thoughts

You can't connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something — your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. (Steve Jobs)

Many people say that things always happen for a reason, i don't know if people say that just to make a situation less horrible than it actually is or that these people have experienced that yes, everything happens for a reason and in time that reason will be more apparent. I guess this is where faith and for some people, religion comes in. I guess having faith that there is reason behind an occurrence or situation somehow gives it meaning, and people of course would like to believe that somehow their existence in this world have meaning, that they are here for a reason because if it is the opposite then life would be rendered futile and we are just here waiting for our time to come.

When i read that speech i started thinking about my life (parang ang tanda na eh! lol) and tried to connect the dots, the dots being decisions i made in my life which lead me to where i am now, nowhere near where i imagined myself to be ten years ago but thankfully happy.

I was surprised to see that they do all really connect and that i never really truly regretted anything because it seems that i always follow my heart in every decision. I always choose the situation which makes me happiest. The decisions i made were not all the right decisions but it was the decision wherein i was happy. To cite an example, i semi-cheated on my ex boyfriend of 9 years, semi because i asked his permission if i could date other people since i was studying abroad at that time and also allowed him the same privilege. My point is if i didn't study abroad, i wouldn't have semi-cheated and realized that there really is something wrong with our relationship, i wouldn't have had the courage to break it off and would have gotten engaged when i got back, by the way, thanks Dom for discouraging him to propose, and be married now to a person i no longer shared the same connection with as when we first met. So see, a reason for everything! lol. Even my semi-cheating brought out something good, and i'm not just justifying my mistake lol.

A lot of people ask me if i regret wasting 9 years of my life and to not have it work out, well now that i think of it no. It was what i wanted at that time so i don't regret it because i was happy... at that time. I was happy not going out and always staying in, not meeting or dating anyone during most part of high school and college. I never felt that i missed out on experiencing high school and college because i didn't miss out, my experience was just different and at that time it suited me well and i was contented.

Anyway, my point is that always follow your bliss. Even if it turns out to be a mistake when you look back and try to connect the dots, you will not regret it because it was what made you happy and there is a reason that it makes you happy. I'm not saying to kill the girl flirting with your bf because it makes you happy, that's totally different. HAHAHAHAHA.

so keep looking for that something you love and that makes you happy. don't settle. trust that you will find it.

happiness is to be found along the way not at the end of the road, for then the journey is over and it's too late.

Connecting the dots.

"Sometimes life hits you in the head with a brick. Don't lose faith. I'm convinced that the only thing that kept me going was that I loved what I did. You've got to find what you love. And that is as true for your work as it is for your lovers. Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven't found it yet, keep looking. Don't settle. As with all matters of the heart, you'll know when you find it. And, like any great relationship, it just gets better and better as the years roll on. So keep looking until you find it. Don't settle.” - Steve Jobs

wander child

Sometimes getting lost is the perfect place to find yourself.

My favorite travel movies:

1. LOST IN TRANSLATION (Japan)

Two completely different people going through different stages in their life forms an unlikely bond. Beautiful shots of Tokyo and its energy.

2. UNDER THE TUSCAN SUN (Italy)

Newly divorced writer travels to Italy and buys a villa in Tuscany on a whim hoping to start her life anew. In Tuscany she meets new people that teaches her about love, tradition, honor which makes her realize that we all have our own lives and we should live it.

3. THE BEACH (Thailand)

A backpackers' movie which gets a bit weird towards the end, but i love the soundtrack. Amazing shots of Maya Bay in Ko Phi Phi Lee and interesting perspective of Bangkok backpackers' district Khao San.

4. SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE (India)

What does it take to find a lost love? A. Money B. Luck C. Smarts D. Destiny.
The film takes the audience through the different aspects of the life of an Indian boy born in the slums. The contrast between the magnificence of the rich and the struggles of the poor. The contrast between tradition and the future.

5. IN BRUGES (Belgium)

Two hit men lays low in Bruges after a job and gets to know the city and it's people. Showcases the beautiful sights of the city and different views of the two hit men about life and death.

6. PRICELESS (France)

One of the wittiest and funniest films i have ever seen! Location is beautiful, clothes are beautiful, a must watch!:)

7. BRICK LANE (U.K.)

I'm partial to this film because i used to love going to Brick Lane to eat Indian food and shop in the vintage stores in nearby Hoxton and Shoreditch. The film is about a Bangladeshi girl sent to Brick Lane to be married off in an arranged marriage and falls in love with their neighbor.

8. Y TU MAMA TAMBIEN (Mexico)

A film about two best friends who goes on a road trip with an older woman they had a crush on. Beautiful displays of the beaches of Mexico and its farm land. Different Mexican way of life also portrayed.

WATCH LIST:

1. MOTORCYCLE DIARIES

2. 7 YEARS IN TIBET

3. INTO THE WILD

Day 1 – A photo of yourself and a description of how your day was.

I chose this photo because this is exactly the face I'm making right now. A mixture between a smile, a smirk and a pout. I think this best describes my day, happy then a bit weird-ed out, i was a bit conceited and mean which explains the smirk and a bit nostalgic at the same time.

Can i just say... Sobrang daming GANAP lately. I'm having trouble keeping up. LOL. I think i need a distraction from all this.

I'm sexy and i know it is playing in the background here in the office, which causes me to smile.

I really do believe sometimes that ignorance is BLISS. No news is sometimes better than bad news. JUST SAYING ;p

Wait, be right back to continue this.

I'm back.

I really hope i have the energy to at least treadmill later. I've been such a couch potato lately, just watching movies. Have to go now. It's closing time.

If you call that a resolution.

to detach is to let go and stop controlling things that you cannot control. To let go is to allow things to fall in to place.

People sometimes fail to realize that, no matter how hard they try to control their surroundings, the only thing they can control is themselves.

so let the balloon fly away.
